Review by The Puyallup Herald, December 2000

This holiday's season best kept musical secret is arguably Steve Barta, accomplished pianist from Colorado Springs whose mellow jazz and classical inspired holiday tunes will touch you, relax you, and infuse you with the magic and beauty of the season.

Barta's newest Christmas release, titled "The 12 Days of Christmas" features 13 contemporary favorites performed on piano and accompanied by a string orchestra. Majestic, expansive, and uplifting, 12 Days will have a festive tone to your tree trimming, set an elegant background for your holiday gatherings, and rejuvenate frazzled Christmas-shopping nerves.

Also destined to be a perennial favorite is "Noel: A Musical Christmas Card". This simple yet elegant solo piano offering contains not only Barta's own interpretations of 12 holiday classics, but also the original Christmas song "Twelve Twenty Five", performed with the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale.

"Christmas Around the World" will add international flavor to your yuletide celebration.

Spanning 5 centuries, the traditional carols on this recording hail from France, Spain, Poland, England, Scotland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, the U.S., Sweden and Italy. Except for 2 chorale numbers, the music on this CD is performed on piano, harp, violin, viola, cello and guitar.

Barta, who in 1991 joined a distinguished list of concert pianists recognized as "Steinway Artists" by the venerable piano maker Steinway & Sons, has performed around the US and in Europe, in addition to his holiday music, he has a number of other albums that artfully fuse classical, jazz, and Brazilian influences. He and his wife, Anneliesa, run their business "Steve Barta Music" from their home base in Colorado Springs, CO.
